Sharples, who since mid-2004 has been the science and technology officer for the British High Commission, completed her PhD in biology at the University of Western Sydney and the Institute of Terrestrial Ecology at Monkswood, UK. Nelson said Sharples was also a lawyer with expertise in intellectual property analysis.
