Sir Gus Nossal will discuss the ongoing revolution in global vaccinology at the World Vaccines Congress, being held in Sydney from October 14 to 15.

Nossal, currently working as a consultant to the World Health Organisation and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, amongst others, will discuss developing global vaccine approaches for global immunisation needs and overcoming the obstacles to the development and distribution of those vaccines.

As chair of the strategic advisory council for the children’s vaccine program with the international non-profit PATH, he will also talk about what the future holds for international immunisation programs.

In a related presentation, PATH’s vaccine development director, Dr Mansour Yaich, will discuss ethical partnering – how to get the private sector interested in investing in vaccines in developing countries.

Dr Nathalie Garcon, head of GSK’s global adjuvant centre for vaccine development, will talk about a new era in adjuvant systems, particularly about broadening vaccine development beyond antigen research to include adjuvanted products.

And Pfizer Australia’s Dr Dan Grant will discuss how small biotechs and big pharma can work together to produce vaccines quickly and economically.
