The leading Australian scientific research body, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) has selected Dimension Data as the provider of ICT network equipment for its nationwide network.
Following a tender announced in May 2007, CSIRO selected Dimension Data as its networking infrastructure provider. CSIRO’s strategic decision to use the network as the platform for a range of communications and technology services will put it in a strong position to use communications technology to support its business as a leader in global research.
The three-year standing offer includes provision of technology and design, implementation and support services covering routers, switches, telephony, security, wireless and videoconferencing equipment across CSIRO’s entire network and data centre infrastructure. The anticipated value of this contract may be up to AUD$4million per annum.
CSIRO will also be utilising Dimension Data’s eProcurement system ‘Direct’ to purchase all required technologies and products covered by the supply agreement.
“Dimension Data is delighted to be involved with such innovative and progressive organisation as CSIRO. I am really looking forward to the ways in which we can work together to provide a world-leading network infrastructure and support collaborative solutions for CSIRO,” said Steve Nola, Australian CEO, Dimension Data.
