Happy as a pig
Imugene reports early PRRS vaccine trial results
Preliminary reports from the trial of Imugene’s [ASX: IMU] Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome [PRRS] vaccine have contained some promising results.
Pigs which had been administered the vaccine showed much lower levels of lung lesions than the control group.
Furthermore, the results appear to show that both administration methods tested – oral and injection – had similar effects.
PRRS slows weight gain in infected pigs. While the injection method resulted in slightly lower lesion levels, pigs administered the vaccine orally showed higher levels of weight gain.
