Electronic underpants revealed
The SimPAD wetness monitoring devices to feature on New Inventors
The SimPAD 'electronic underpants' developed by Fred Bergman Healthcare are to be showcased on the New Inventors tomorrow night.
Designed for use in aged care facilities, SimPADs contain a censor which monitor the pads and sends an electronic alert or SMS to carers whenever they need to be changed.
This will help preserve patients' dignity, removing the necessity for carers to check the pads when they are not wet.
They can provide nurses with an accurate assessment of how often a pad needs to be changed after a three-day monitoring period.
Hosted by comedian James O'Loughlin, the New Inventors airs on the ABC on Wednesday nights at 8pm.
