Harmes reportedly told his teammates of his retirement decision on Tuesday (today).
Harmes joined the Bulldogs ahead of the 2024 season after a successful 152-game stint at Melbourne that included the 2021 premiership.
Harmes played 13 games for the Bulldogs in 2025 and his three-year contract was due to expire at season’s end.
He was drafted way back in the 2014 rookie draft and made his AFL debut in 2015.
